OGODO is an experimental self-portrait that explores themes of rebirth through the retelling of an Igbo creation story. The film brings the mystical drama of the Hornbill to life, the Empress of the Sky Okpoko Nwe Enu.
The film begins with the character at rest. The ocean of inertia surrounds the island of becoming.
And so creation begins…
Weaving dance, my foremother’s body arts and Scottish landscape, it explores themes of rebirth, duality and motion. OGODO is a celebration of the divine beauty of black women’s bodies and relationship to nature.
